Charming Springtime Wedding at The White Crow | Bonnie and Paul | North Carolina Wedding Planner

Bonnie and Paul got married at The White Crow on a beautiful rainy mountain day. During his thank you speech, Paul said that even though it wasn’t what most people would’ve considered good weather for a wedding, it was the perfect weather for them!

When I asked them for a few words to describe their wedding day, they said “Intimate, Elegant, Delicate, Peaceful, and Fun”. I have to say, I think those words captured the feel of their day to a tee!

In order to keep the wedding intimate, they chose to celebrate with about 50 close friends and family members. They had a wedding party of only one best man, one maid of honor, and one adorable flower girl. Bonnie and Paul wanted to have photos taken with each of their guests which was easy to accomplish with a smaller guest count and Bethany Barton as their photographer!

I worked with Bonnie and Paul on their wedding design. We went with a spring color palette of sage green, off white, pale blush, sand, and a little pop of rust. The star of the show for the ceremony was the mountain backdrop so we kept things simple with two big arrangements at the back of the aisle and an arrangement on their cross arbor. One thing that I love about The White Crow is that their ceremony area has benches made out of wood from the property!

Bonnie and Paul didn’t expect much dancing from their guests, so they really wanted to create a space for good conversations and quality time. They opted to add on string lights over the reception space which helped set the mood for a nice evening. We had a sweetheart table for the wedding party and the other guests were seated at two long farm tables. The tables featured mismatched bud vases with spring florals from Wild Sweet William and pink tapered candles placed in gold candlestick holders. The linen table runners added a nice texture to the tables as well. The tablescapes definitely helped accomplish the elegant and delicate feel they were going for!

The reception was full of funny speeches, good conversations, and just the right amount of dancing! One of my favorite parts was the newlywed’s choreographed dance that started out slow and romantic but had a surprise ending of an all out hip hop dance! They cut their cake and shared thank you speeches with their guests. One of their friends had made several traditional Chinese desserts which were a big hit. The night ended with a romantic sparkler exit!

Eco-Friendly Wedding Decisions

The core value of Joelle Parks Events Co. is to reduce waste in the event industry by making more eco-friendly and intentional decisions. I wanted to share a few ways that their wedding accomplished this!

Florals: All of the florals were either given to family or vendors so they could be enjoyed beyond the wedding day!

Rentals: All of the dish ware, tables, linens, and were rentals. None of the items were single use, which means many other couples can use them in the future.

Food: Much of the food was sent home with vendors and the couple so that it didn't need to be thrown away.

Favors: The couple gave their guests small jars of local honey as their favors. The jars are reusable, too!

One of my favorite parts of wedding planning is the design process. I loved getting to know Bonnie and Paul and finding unique ways to reflect their personalities into the wedding design. I also loved that Paul was very involved in the planning process and it was something they did together.

B + P, I wish you a lifetime of growing in your love for one another!

Joelle
