Modern + Minimal Wedding Inspiration | The Barn at Reynolda Village | Styled Shoot

A modern wedding vibe with a minimalist feel. This styled shoot took place in the heart of Winston Salem at The Barn at Reynolda Village.

The venue is absolutely stunning with its white interior and amazing natural light. It’s right next to the iconic Reynolda Gardens which is perfect for a wedding ceremony or couples photos.

The Setting

Reynolda Village has so many great spots for photos. The architecture around the village give quaint, downtown feels. The springtime is such a perfect time for a wedding in this area because the garden is FULL of beautiful blooms. It’s a great spot for taking photos because you can walk around and enjoy the beauty and it makes for great candid photos.

The Attire

The vision for the attire was to have a classic yet modern look. The groom’s attire was a classic black tux from OMJ Clothing. The all black suit gave a crisp, modern feel and the bowtie added that classic look. For the bride’s dress we went for a minimal look on the front and a statement bow on the back. I loved the nod to some southern charm with the dramatic bow in the back. The dress was sourced from Hayden Olivia Bridal in Uptown Charlotte. The Posh Palette did an incredible job with the makeup look and Cosmic Nails did the brides nails to add the extra detail.

The Tablescapes

The inspiration for the tablescapes was to have matte black details and pops of color with the florals. I worked with Hathaway Floral Design and Cooke Rentals Denver to achieve this stunning tables cape. I love Panama linens because they add a little bit of texture to a table. The matte black candlesticks and flatware brought in the modern feel while the spring florals softened the overall look. For an additional layer of texture, we added a textured glass salad plate to the place setting. Sarah Jo Designs made menus out of handmade paper and it was the perfect finishing touch. I love the way this look came together from start to finish! We repurposed some of the florals to create a sweetheart table as well.

The Ceremony

I’m pretty obsessed with the giant windows in the venue and it made for the perfect backdrop for a ceremony. We had two large floral urns surrounded by some tapered candles. It felt grand and romantic at the same time. We were able to reuse the aisle arrangements on the tables. In a real wedding, this could save some money on the overall floral cost!

The Details

The silo of the venue is one of the iconic spots at the Barn. I loved how the black linen for the cake really popped in this space. The cake brought in an abstract, artistic pop to the overall wedding design. Sarah used handmade paper, wax seals, and vintage stamps on the wedding suite for that classic, yet modern look!

Eco-Friendly Wedding Decisions

I was really excited about the overall design of this styled shoot because it was an opportunity to show that an eco-friendly wedding doesn’t have to look a particular way. This wedding design is modern through and through, but features many different eco friendly decisions.

Florals: The flowers were locally sourced and some were even locally foraged! We were able to repurpose flowers in multiple locations. For a real wedding, this saves the couple some money and also ensures that they get multiple uses out of their florals. At the end of the styled shoot, vendors took flowers home to enjoy some more life out of them! I brought several vases around to my neighbors and they loved them.

Decor: Rentals are always a great eco-friendly option. They can be reused and repurposed for many weddings and events in the future.

Stationary: The invitation suite included…

1. Handmade paper: Handmade paper is just that...handmade! It is made from recycled paper!

2. Silk ribbon: also handmade...typically died from natural elements: flowers, dirt, coffee, etc. No artificial colors!

3. Vintage stamps: these are collected and saved from decades ago! Stamps never expire.
